National Day falls on Sunday 9 August this year, so Monday 10 August is the public holiday in lieu. The parade returns to the National Stadium for the first time since 2016, with the theme "Majulah Singapura, Go Beyond!" About 42,000 people will be in the stadium, many more will be around the Kallang basin for the fireworks, and precinct activities have been running since 25 July.
If you're a grassroots committee, a campus hall, or an HR lead planning a Monday team lunch, you don't need a new app for any of that. You need a hunt people can open in a browser on the phone they already carry, which is what PlayTours is.
One small tip for the invite: in Singapore, HR and staff talk about team building, so call it that in the intranet post and the email. Then show them the hunt.
Sunday 9 August has public energy and a lot of people in one place. Keep missions short, and stay out of the Sports Hub security zone. NDP 2026 is an enhanced security event, so a hunt belongs in a void deck, a campus, a neighbourhood park, or an office that happens to be open.
Monday 10 August is the better corporate slot. Ninety minutes, then lunch. A few chapters is plenty.
Print the Instant Join QR on A3 and put it somewhere fixed. A phone held up at the front of the room doesn't work for forty people. The code opens a short pyts.link address in the browser, with no App Store step. Work phones in Singapore are often locked down, which is exactly why we built PlayTours as a web app.
Set a default language and switch on player translation. Write the English properly, and let Mandarin or Malay speakers translate in the app if they need to. Don't rely on auto-translation for a National Day riddle; keep the riddle in one language.
For photos, AI judging handles "a respectful red-and-white photo" (a building lit up, the flag at a community club) without you approving every image. Shared photos are useful if the RC wants a gallery afterwards.
If you have more than two teams in a small precinct, turn on Prevent bunching and shuffle the middle chapters. Keep a fixed first chapter that covers safety, including a clear line about not entering the stadium's sterile area.
QuickBuild can draft four to eight tasks from a prompt, and then you edit. That suits a community centre that has one Thursday evening, not three days in the full editor.
A void-deck event can look enormous and still have 40 phones in the hunt. A company Monday can have 80 staff and 80 phones at 10:01. Size your plan with the concurrent-devices guide. The free tier covers 25 phones at once with a watermark, which is fine for a small RC and less fine if leadership is playing and would rather not see it.
Don't ask for NRIC numbers in a task. Don't require photos of children unless a parent is on the team. If you need attendance for your own records, download the results from the session screen. Chapter 1, in order. Welcome. One multiple-choice question about SG61. One check-off task: find the person who has worked here longest.
Chapter 2, free roam in the building or nearby park. Three photo tasks and one QR on a pantry notice.
Chapter 3. A group photo, then, if HR wants something for the intranet, a short written answer to "one thing we should do better as a team in the next 61 weeks." Leave it out if it will feel like homework.
Put a timer on the session if you have a 12:00 booking. The timer can't be paused, so if a guest of honour talks long, stop the session from the facilitator dashboard.
Orientation energy plus National Day is a lot. Keep GPS off indoors and use access codes on faculty doors that staff have agreed to. The advice in running Freshers hunts without downloads applies here too.
You don't need to recreate the parade programme as tasks, and prizes shouldn't require getting into the stadium. A neighbourhood hunt in Jurong is a good National Day activity on its own.
