Singapore gazettes Deepavali on Sunday 8 November 2026. Monday 9 November is the in-lieu holiday. Malaysia’s date follows the same moon; confirm your state’s gazette before you print.
This is lights, kolam, and family evenings in November, a different festival from the September lantern trail.
Evenings 6–8 November: Little India (SG) and Brickfields / Little India stretches in MY. Ask permission for any QR. Shops are businesses, not set dressing.
Monday 9 November (SG in-lieu): office-friendly. Indoor lights you bought. 60 minutes. People have family obligations the same weekend. Offer a skip.
Time-restricted hide on outdoor tasks after 9 p.m. Session timer still cannot pause. Stop from the facilitator dashboard if you must.
judged-image-ai: lights, kolam, decorated frontage. Brief the judge prompt tightly. “Photo of festival lighting in the street you are standing in.”
image-share for a community gallery if the organisers want one. Optional.
object-recognition only with a reference image you own. Skip scraping a religious image as a “find this.” If you need a religious object, it probably should not be a point-scoring task.
no-answer: eat something a teammate brought, if they brought it. Allergies. Write that.
Skip dress-up. Skip ranking people’s piety.
Deepavali eve in Little India is a packed pedestrian problem. Prevent bunching. Shuffle middle chapters. Join QR at the MRT where data still works. GPS pins in the thickest stretch will fail. Reception article.
Concurrent: hunters, not the whole street.
Tamil, English, Malay as the workplace needs. One source language per riddle. Translation for the rest.
Run this on the in-lieu Monday if people are in. Sixty minutes. Skip for anyone travelling.
If the office is mixed Hindu, Chinese, Malay, and everyone else, skip trivia quizzes about Deepavali. Ask people to notice the office as it actually is this week: extra sweets, a kolam at reception, colleagues who are out. Nobody has to perform their festival for points.
Free watermark is fine internally. Instant Join on the intranet the Friday before, not at 10:01 on Monday.
If someone asks whether this is claimable in Malaysia: only inside a registered provider’s approved programme, with 2026 grant lock-in. See Merdeka / HRD. A lights walk by itself is not a grant.
Chapter 1, in order, at the MRT or a CC: safety, “stewards and police override the app,” one no-answer find-the-first-aid.
Chapter 2, shuffled: judged-image-ai lights, optional image-share, one QR only where a shop signed off.
Chapter 3: “hunt closed, enjoy the street.” hide next challenge so they cannot open a new photo task in the thickest stretch.
Prevent bunching on. Two Instant Join posters, both at the edge of the zone, none in the middle.
Write: “Festival lighting or kolam on the street or building you are standing at. Not a phone wallpaper. Not a screenshot. Not a person in costume as a scored object.”
Human judged-image as fallback in the validation portal. Put a volunteer on cafe wifi.
Default image-share off. If a school run uses photos of kids, you need the school’s photo policy. no-answer tasks travel better.
Send drafts to hello@playtours.app with the photo list. We can help you drop costume tasks before they go live.
