A Guide to Multi-language Use on PlayTours

Rosalee

PlayTours strive to be the most inclusive scavenger hunt and team-building games app. One of the ways is to make it possible and easy for anyone to use PlayTours with the languages of their choice.

There are 2 methods to make it mutli-language:

1) Allow players to decide the language that they prefer (less common)

2) Set a specific language (more common)

Important note: for both methods, the translation only affects PlayTours' user interface, and not the texts that you key in as part of your game. This means that for information that you key in related to your game, like the description, task details and answers, you will need to write it in multiple languages, where applicable.

1) Allow players to decide the language that they prefer (less common)

In the game builder, under "Game Details & Welcome Screen", scroll down and you should see the "Auto translate" option. Set it to "Yes".

This will allow players to decide the language when they are playing the game. See how it works below:

2) Set a specific language (more common)

In the game builder, under "Game Details & Welcome Screen", scroll down and you should see the "Auto translate" option. Set it to "Yes". Also, set "Use specific language" to the language of your choice.

This will automatically translate the user interface of PlayTours.

Extra: Auto-translate the game content

This allows the game content, the content that is written by you as the game designer, to be auto-translated. Do note that the answers will still need to be written in the different languages in the game builder.

Step 1) In the game builder, scroll down and click into UI Modifcations.

Step 2) Configure this to Yes.
